Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun and relaxing memorial weekend this year! Friday Kyla and I ran around town getting things done. We came home after being super productive and Kyla took a nap. When she woke up, I got her ready to go visit some of my college friends. We stopped by Lauren and Jeff's house for a bit to say hi to Julie and Dustin, Lori and Adam, and Amanda. I didn't take any pictures with my camera while we were there, but I got a couple pictures from Julie. It was so fun seeing everyone! Lauren and Julie are both expecting a baby this fall so I loved getting to see their baby bumps! Saturday we just hung out for a bit. I put Kyla's hair in pig tails for the first time and thought she looked super cute. Kyla spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning with Jesse's family. Kyla was a tired little munchkin when I picked her up so we just lounged around Sunday night and watched Sesame Street. Monday we had a pool day! Kyla loves the water and had so much fun swimming in the pool!

Friday before we headed out to get things done!

13 months

Kyla is 13 months old! She is our little firecracker! She goes about a mile a minute all day until we both crash at the end of the day. She always makes us laugh and smile. We just love her so much!

* Kyla can walk, but she definitely prefers to crawl.

* She is still loving her pointer finger. She points at everything and everyone!

* She loves to chase after bubbles. She just loves it when I blow bubbles for her. We got a bubble machine that sprays them into the air, but she seems to like it better when I make the bubbles.

* Kyla hasn't said any more words lately. She didn't really say much at all this last month. She is always making lots of noise though! She loves to yell, squeal, and scream! :)

* Kyla likes to play hide and seek. She starts screaming/squealing before she even finds whoever is hiding because she gets so excited. I LOVE to play this game with her!

* She is getting two more teeth on the bottom.

* She sleeps like a pro! Kyla sleeps from about 7:00pm to 7:00am every night! This has been wonderful. When I was waking up every 2 1/2-3 hours with her from birth-9 months, I truly never thought I would sleep again. Well, boy was I wrong! The last four months have been amazing!

Pebbles

Here are a couple pictures of Kyla's first pony tail. I had to be pretty sneaky when I put her hair up because she did not want me to mess with her hair at all. So, I turned on Sesame Street and as soon as she entered her tv watching daze I got busy. She didn't even realize she had a pony tail after I was done. I was so happy because I thought she looked really cute! She looked a little like Pebbles from The Flinstones. :)

Here she is writing on her magna doodle. I took two pictures of her and think it is interesting that she is writing with two different hands. Kyla doesn't really favor one hand over the other yet, so we will just have to wait and see whether she will be right handed or left handed.

Zoo Day

TK and I took Kyla to the zoo this week. The weather worried us a bit because when we got to the zoo it was very cloudy, thundering, and most people were leaving. Since we were already there we decided to go ahead and go in. Our decision was a good one because the zoo was pretty much empty and it never rained! Kyla loved spending her day outside looking at all the animals. She loved the flamingos. Kyla just seems to love any kind of bird right now. Anytime we are outside and she sees a bird she smiles, points, and laughs. So, she seemed thrilled to see a flock of flamingos. After the zoo we went to a great frozen yogurt place and ate delicious frozen yogurt! We were really tired when we got home, but we had such a fun day!

Here is Kyla pointing and "talking" about the animals after she looked at them.

We were able to see the komodo dragon eat dinner. It was kind of disgusting because they have a gross tongue, but it was also really neat to see how this animal eats.

This was Kyla's face as she watched the komodo dragon eat. I think it looks like she is saying...gross! Ha!
After it was done, Kyla looked back at me like...so, where are we off to next, mom?
So...we took her to the aquarium area where she stood in this little concave bubble to look at the fish. Too cute!

Dallas Aquarium

We finally made it to the Dallas Aquarium! Jesse and I have been wanting to go for such a long time. It definitely did not disappoint. It was really neat! When we first walked in there was this amazing rainforest area. We were surprised to see that birds were just flying around inside the building. Kyla loved the birds! She would point at them as we walked around. The aquarium portion was just as great! We walked through a tunnel filled with sharks and sting rays and stood in front of a HUGE aquarium filled with fish, ducks, and sea turtles. We also ate a yummy lunch at a restaurant inside the aquairum and ended the day after looking at the outdoor penguin exhibit. The three of us had a great day together!

Mother's Day 2010

Happy Mother's Day 2010! Kyla and I had a wonderful day. We played all day and even ate cupcakes together. What could be better than that?! Thank you God for blessing my life with Kyla! I absolutely LOVE being a mommy!

Kyla loves it when I hide behind something and pop out to get her. When I pop out she screams really loud, gets a HUGE smile on her face, and tries to speed crawl away from me. I love playing this game with her because she gets so happy!

Bottle Free

Kyla is bottle free as of yesterday, May 7, 2010. She is completely off the bottle and on the sippy cup. She thankfully had no problems with the transition. She loves to drink from her cup!
