5 Months Old!

We are loving our five month old just as much as ever. Kyla is so much fun to be around and is always doing something new. She has recently found her feet and is constantly trying to get her toes in her mouth. Kyla now reaches out to touch anything she can get her hands on...her toys, our cups (which makes drinking with her in our lap almost impossible), and the spoon when we feed her rice cereal. Once she reaches out and grasps something, she immediately attempts to put it in her mouth. I have to watch her like a hawk!

Kyla is VERY interested in people. She wiggles with excitement and smiles when she sees familar faces. She does not like to be alone. If she realizes she is alone she definitely lets me know that she is unhappy. I am always moving the bouncer, travel swing, bumbo, exercauser, and high chair around the house so that she can be around the family. As long as she can see our faces she is a happy girl. Kyla is also enjoying tummy time much more than she has in the past and is becoming an expert at rolling over.

Kyla is our gift from God and we are so thankful that she is a part of our lives. Here are some of my favorite pictures of our little one.

Tristan's Birthday Party

Kyla's cousin, Tristan, celebrated his 9th birthday this weekend. Kyla had a great time hanging out with all the people at the party. Our little baby just LOVES to be around people. The older kids played in the bounce house all afternoon and ate lots of cake and ice cream. Kyla obviously did not do either, but I know she is going to want to be in the center of it all as soon as she can. She is such an active baby that I have a feeling that once she starts crawling and walking, I will never sit still again! I don't mind though. She makes me smile inside and out, so I will take every minute with her that I can get!

Kyla was excited to be at the party as soon as we took her out of her car seat!

Kyla's First Beach Vacation!

Kyla's first road trip was to Florida. We went with Jesse's family and had a wonderful time at the beach. It was the perfect getaway! I was nervous about the 12 hour car ride with a 4 month old, but Kyla was the perfect passenger. We did not have any problems at all. She played with her toys, looked out the window, and took a lot of naps. The beach was beautiful. I only took Kyla out to the beach early in the morning because I didn't want her to be in the sun and heat at such a young age. She was intrigued by the sound of the water and a little overwhelmed by the wind.

Reese, aka...the travel/vacation expert, had a great trip! Man, she definitely knows how to utilize all the ammenities that resorts, hotels, condos, etc. have to offer. With Reese as our guide, Jesse and I were able to check out everything our condo had to offer! :)

Jesse's mom and dad (who are the best in-laws EVER) loved spending an entire week with Kyla. They were happy to watch her anytime we wanted to venture out. It was really cute because Jesse was very excited about having a full time babysitter for a week. We haven't spent much time away from the baby because I am still breastfeeding. So, knowing we would have grandma and grandpa around for five full days, my loving husband was determined to make sure Kyla had plenty of bottles for the week. He bought dry ice to put in a cooler so that my breast milk could make the 12 hour trip without thawing out! Ha! :)

We had all had a great vacation! Here are some pics!

She got a little scared when the water splashed her.

Looks like she's trying to decide if she likes the water.

Fun in the sun!

Labor Day Weekend

Kyla had a fun filled Labor Day weekend this year! She was a social butterfly all weekend. Uncle Dan and Aunt Ruth decided to travel to Texas so Kyla was able to meet them and her two cousins Daniel and Grace for the first time. We all had a wonderful time hanging out at Grandpa's house. We also went to Gloria's for lunch on Sunday...yummm! It was Kyla's first restaurant experience. She did great! She looked at all the people walking by, hung out with the family, took a nap, and drank her bottle. What a life! :-)
