Seven Months Old

Our baby is seven months old! I love watching her grow and always find myself looking forward to her next stage of growth and development, but at the same time I feel somewhat sad that she is growing up so fast! Kyla melts our hearts with her smile and exuberant personality EVERY single day! Here are some things that Kyla has been up to....

Kyla has recently started crawling! About two weeks ago she started scooting around. She scooted for about one week before she mastered crawling. She is now crawling around all over the place and has even starting to pull up on things. I cannot take my eyes off of her for a second. I am dreading the cruising stage because she has already tumbled over a couple times after pulling up. I love walking into a room where Kyla is playing because she will crawl right to my feet and put her hands on my legs so that I will pick her up. It makes me feel so special to know that she knows I am her mommy!

Kyla is also making A LOT of noise lately! She babbles, laughs, and squeals all the time. Her squeal is very very very high pitched. Jesse calls it singing. When she sees Reese or any other baby, kid, or animal Kyla goes at it! She starts squealing, squeaking, and screaming. You can't help but laugh when you see her do this!

Kyla is facinated by our cell phones and remote controls. For a while I tried to keep them from her, but now I just make sure I clean them regularly so that she can play with them for a bit.

She loves to eat her baby food. I have introduced the sippy cup. She can drink from it, but cannot hold it yet. She doesn't really like to hold her bottles either.

Kyla does not have any teeth and I cannot feel anything close to the surface of her gums. Thankfully, we haven't had to struggle with the teething thing...yet.

Diaper changes with our kiddo have become pretty much rediculous. She will not stay on her back AT ALL and gets extremely mad if we try to hold her down. I usually end up diapering her while she is in the crawling position.

Kyla loves to play with her toys on her play mat and she loves to be outside! I like to watch her touch the grass and leaves on the ground. You can really see her mind working as she tries to figure out what new texture she is feeling.

We have had a wonderful seven months with our little Kyla! Every day is a new adventure with her in our lives! Thank you God for blessing our lives with Kyla Mae! We love her sooooooo much!

Thanksgiving 2009

We had two wonderful Thanksgiving celebrations this year! The Sunday before Thanksgiving day we went to Nonie's house to have lunch with my side of the family. It was a beautiful day so Kyla and Reese spent most of their time outside. I barely saw Reese all day because she was out running around with the "big kids." :-) Kyla, like her big sister, loves to be outside. It is really cute to watch her look around and take in everything going on around her. On turkey day, we went to Paula's house to have lunch with Jesse's family, watch the Cowboys, and celebrate Chloe's 13th birthday. I always have so much fun when we get together with our families and am already looking forward to Christmas!

Friends, Family and TCU!

Kyla has been a social butterfly the last couple weekends. We met my friends Abby and Lauren at Gloria's in Fort Worth, went to grandpa Dan's, attended Suzy's baby shower, and even made an appearance at the TCU game. On Saturday, Kyla and I dressed in purple all day to show our support for TCU. Go Frogs!! Kyla is such a good baby when we get out of the house. I only have problems with her when she gets tired and when I have to put her in her car seat. Lately, when I try to put Kyla in her car seat she does this back bend that is unbelievable! Even tickling her does not make her body bend into the sitting position. I am learning that she is very strong and very stubborn!

It's A New Life!

I would like to introduce you to Jocelyn Leigh Spurlock. She was born at 6:04am on October 23, 2009. She weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. My sister, Suzy, is now the proud mom of a beautiful baby girl!! Suzy was a trooper through 13 hours of labor. I absolutely loved being there with Suz through it all! I even got to be in the operating room with Suzy when Jocelyn was born. It's a good thing too because Suzy slept through most of the c-section. Ha! Seeing Jocelyn enter the world was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. We love baby Jocelyn so much and are very thankful that God has blessed us with a healthy baby girl!

Here she is...Jocelyn Leigh
