4 Months Old!

Kyla's 4 month check up was this morning. She now weighs 14 pounds 13 ounces and is 25 inches long. She is in the 75th percentile for both her weight and height. She took her four month shots like a champ. Didn't cry after the first one, but wailed after the second. The crying did not last too long because I scooped her up as soon as the nurse was done. I know the doctor's appointment wore Kyla out because she easily went down for a nap. Naps around here are no easy task, so mama was a very happy lady this afternoon.

Kyla is such a joy to be around. She is full of personality, always smiling, and even starting to laugh out loud. She is constantly talking, cooing, gurgling, and drooling. Kyla is also becoming much more active. She graps and holds on to her toys and tries to get them to her mouth, kicks her legs in the bath tub so much that she splashes water everywhere, tries to sit up from laying on her back (which ends up looking like one intense ab crunch), props her arms up under her body while on her tummy, and has recently learned to roll over.

In addition to all of these great things, Kyla tried rice cereal for the first time. I think she liked it. At first she did not know what to think, but after awhile she would open wide when she saw the spoon headed toward her mouth. By the time she was done, there was more cereal on her face than in her tummy, but we will continue to work on it.

Just chillin in her car seat

Smiling for the mama-razzi!

Rice cereal...Kyla's first solid food!

At first, she was not so sure about the whole solid food idea.

Mama's turn...

Full tummy = happy baby!

Family and Friends

Jesse and I feel very blessed to have such wonderful family and friends in our lives. Since day one of Kyla's life we have been surrounded by tons of support! We are grateful for all the prayers, support, encouragement, and parenting tips that so many of you have offered. Below are pictures of some, but definitely not all, of the people who have spent time with Kyla during the first four months of her life. I try to be as diligent as possible in my picture taking, but it's hard to remember to take pictures all the time. It's a tough job being the mama-razzi!

Daddy's Little Girl!

Our little girl just loves to flirt with her daddy! She will stare at him from across the room until he looks at her and then she will smile at him and look away. It is really fun to watch! Kyla also loves to listen to Jesse sing. When he holds her in his lap and sings to her she grins from ear to ear and giggles. I can already tell that Kyla's life as a daddy's girl has begun!

Here is a picture of Kyla with Ellie The Elephant. Jess and I have had a very hard time getting Kyla to sleep in her crib. After trying several different sleep techniques, we noticed that she would sleep peacefully with Ellie, the green and blue elephant. Now, it is so cute to watch Kyla before she takes a nap because she will hold Ellie's hand or rub Ellie's ear until she falls asleep. I am ashamed to admit that I did try to replace Ellie with a pink and white bunny because I wanted Kyla to have a "girl toy." However, Kyla did not take to the pink bunny like she did Ellie. Ellie was the only stuffed toy that would help her fall asleep. So, after being made fun of A LOT by Jesse I gave up on the pink bunny and realized that the green and blue elephant will forever hold a place in our hearts! Now we all love Ellie The Elephant very much. She definitely makes our life much easier at nap time.
